All Aquarium Plants https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3B002480CE91AC49 Obviously I dirt my tanks and here is how I do it for great roots http://www.howtosetupaplantedtank.com/ The root structure of all types of sagittaria is great. http://dustinsfishtanks.com/aquarium-product/sagittaria-subulata/ These plants are great for people just starting out in the hobby as they are hardy and easy to grow. I started keeping Dwarf Sag right when I first got my 125 planted tank rolling. I have not had to buy any of it for 5 years. It grows and grows and grows. It shoots off runners left and right and will spread all over a planted tank in a very short amount of time. One of the reasons it spreads so easily is its great root structure. When you are buying plants, you don't just want to look at the stem and leaves of the plants. You have to take a good look at the plant's roots. As long as the roots are good, you can get away with a plant that has not-so-great leaves. Oftentimes, the leaves on a plant will fall off after you get them home. If you have a good root structure and a good substrate, you will be able to grow back those new leaves faster. Just the opposite is true with a plant that has no roots but some great leaves. The plant will have to go through a growth stage again to produce those roots. Look for plants with good roots! If you see any roots that aren't bright white or are looking funky, cut them off. Part two talks about root growth, and I show how well my plants' roots grow and if I cut them before I plant them or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54TBfIJCT9w http://www.dustinsfishtanks.com/top-10-tips/ Welcome to Dustin's Fish Tanks YouTube Channel.
