@bobzzz23 Way to early to tell if it is dead. You will have to wait until more consistent mild weather returns. If there is life in it then you will see growth from the center. Always good to take a felt marker pen and make a small line on the center spears close to the trunk where they emerge. That was you will see if indeed the new growth is pushing out.

great info here! I have a question though... I am attempting to grow cold-hardy palm species such as needle palms and windmill palms in zone 6a southern Indiana... Would the protection methods that you list here be sufficient, or would I need additional winter protection? During harsh winters in my area, it can reach 0F and slightly colder from time to time overnight. Any info would be appreciated... Thanks!
