Perennial chives - plant it once & enjoy it for years!
Tips, Tricks
I planted my chives from seeds about 5 years ago and it comes back each year looking great! I'm always amazed by these perennials :) My sage plant survived the winter and is looking kind of bad at the moment, but it will perk up once the weather gets warmer. I love #perennials I am going to be using my chives as a companion plant for some carrots and beets. Chives make a wonderful companion plant for almost everything in the garden with the exception of peas and beans. This winter when my chives go dormant I will be dividing this plant into 2 or 3 different plants because at the moment they are a bit crowded, and then I will have more delicious chive plants for free! A "Garlic" chive? Are you serious! I didn't know there was such a thing. But I love garlic, and I love chives with sour cream on a baked potato. When is the best time to plant these, Jess? We live in southern Oregon about 50 miles from the Northern California border and it gets HOT here in the summers, usually in the high 90's.

Do your chives flower and go to seed/ do you let them flower? I just planted some last summer so I don't know exactly what to expect. They are at least coming back after the winter.
