Path of Exile Ascendancy: League Starter Hierophant Templar Build - Beginner/Hardcore/Budget
Tips, Tricks
In this Path of Exile Ascendancy guide I share an AoE Elemental Templar Hierophant build that is perfect for new leagues Hardcore or Standard. Less than budget, this build is viable and even strong with self found gear making it a great choice to begin the expansion and farm some currency for other builds. It's also pretty tanky and easy to play - perfect for beginner PoE players. My recommended setup is the Storm Call + Orb of Storms because it's very easy to play, fast clearing and great damage thanks to all the buffs Storm Call has gotten. However, this build also works as Ball Lightning, Shock Nova, Flameblast, Glacial Cascade, Ice Nova & Magma Orb. And you could easily rework it into something like Arc by dropping some AoE nodes. Okay, going back to PoE after a hiatus. I'm not 100% sure about this build but I have to believe. To BELIEVE with my old man creeper — with his shabby garb and pink boots on. I prioritise damage over life, generally, but that just got me so far where enemies literally one shots me. I might last longer with this build.

i love your videos but you dont refer or show you own equipment, kinda bad if someone needs to know if they should go only armor, armor + evasion , armor + energy shield... and the weapons to take . hope you add that one some videos or try leep that in mind on your next ones. take care :D .

two quick questions; what would be better storm call or vortex? would it be a good idea to take some of the aura nodes and use more auras?
-
Is this viable in current league?

Haven't played in a while and planing on starting again with the new league. Is this still a good league starter build?

This build has been fun. But, there were 2 things I think could have added. But other than that, video was amazing ^_^
First, is just pictures of the Gems and Skills which you could use. Just text makes it hard (personal problem) to find the right spell or support gem.
Second, Bandit quest. Should I take Elemental resistance or more life? I would have loved to hear your opinion "I recomend, but you can take what you want" . . .
If someone would be so kind and tell me which bandit I should take on which difficult? Thanks. -
Is it possible to build a low life hiro with the Sanctuary of Thought passive?
-
Can the build work with Firestorm?

This build + buffed up decoy totem = god mode. Seriously. Just came back from a few years and ripped a summoner at normal essence pack in koams dream. Just hit 67 on this toon and I absolutely melted everything up to this point, 100% solo and self found! (excluding piety & malachai rushes)

i want ask what gems to use?

I was a bit skeptical about this build at first, but decided to swallow my pride and go ahead and try it.
Why isn't EVERYONE talking about this build? It's amazing. The passive skills you have access to allow for a build that can move and cast super fast, and it does a ton of damage. Best of all, I was actually able to beat Malachai on merciless--I only died once, and that was because I got a bit careless. Otherwise I was able to take some pretty brutal hits that would have killed any of my other builds. Maligaro was a bit of a struggle, but I didn't have a whole lot of chaos resistance, and he WAS beatable.
That said, I prefer to place Herald of Thunder in an unlinked socket and instead put Increased Area of Effect in its place to make a huge Orb of Storms. Also, I opted to not go into the Shadow area, instead, picking up energy shield and lightning damage passives, like Crackling Speed and Unnatural Calm. I'm only level 70 now, though, so we'll see if that holds up well in later levels.
Also, I recommend using golems for their buffs, maybe linking them to Blind, as well.
The Curse on Hit for Orb of Storms works really well, as it has a huge radius and allows you to curse enemies and also get your Elemental Overload activated in one casting, and Warlord's Mark does a great job of keeping your mana filled for Mind over Matter. That said, temporal chains can also be a good option, or even conductivity if you want more damage. Alternatively, you can unlink the curses for more versatility and instead upgrade OoS with other things like lightning penetration or Blind, but I find being able to drop the curse with the Orb really saves a lot of time.
Finally, I'm a little torn over the use of Herald of Thunder and Clarity. They are helpful, but having that extra bunch of mana for the really big hitters is also a life saver. -
is this still viable currently? im trying to get back into PoE and i needed a build to start in the new league

Hi, Ziggy,
I've been playing POE for quite a while now. I've never been good at it, but I know a thing or two, and this build is really what I'm looking for: something that's cheap, but effective. However, there are a few choices you made that confused me, and I think if I understand them, it will help my understanding of the game.
First, why didn't you take the Eldritch Battery keystone? Wouldn't that have helped with conservation of the mana needed to reduce damage? It looks like you have a lot reserved, and in my experience, when I have that much mana resevered, it goes away REALLY fast at higher levels, even with arctic armor.
Second, I thought it was strange that you spent all those points to get down into the Shadow area, when you could have used those points to get lots of other good skills that are much closer. Why didn't you take things like Annihilation, the Templar starting nodes, or the Crackling Speed clusters instead, for instance? It seems like they would have been more economical.
Third, I noticed you seemed to favor Controlled Destruction over Elemental Focus. Why is that? I've always thought the chance to crit outweighed the chance to do status effects on enemies, especially high-level ones, where there's a chance they won't even proc.
Finally, how come you don't use the lightning penetration support gem? I understand that Illuminated Devotion give penetration, but isn't more usually better here? The way most people talk, elemental penetration sort of trumps most other forms of support.
Anyway, thanks for your time! -
sir .. can i know you first skill (q skill) that lightning ??
