Part 1 of 5: Securing and A Passive Heat Source for Garden Greenhouses - The Rusted Garden 2013
Tips, Tricks
I am going to do a 5 part video series on managing a vegetable garden greenhouse in the fall. I am gardening in Maryland Zone 7. This video will show you some tips and tricks to secure your greenhouse plastic and frame. It will also show you two ways to create radiating heat sources for additional warmth at night. Each new video will cover topics like disease and pest management, planting cool weather crops, heating elements and more. New to Gardening? Check out my 2nd Gardening YouTube Channel dedicated to New Gardeners. The videos are longer and more detailed. Each video presents as if you are new to gardening. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAPRtyacJ69AUdb7o-TZLSw Join My Google+ Gardening Community called Our Tomato & Vegetable Gardens - we are approaching 2500 world-wide gardeners: https://plus.google.com/communities/114956817444053979636 or Link from My YouTube Page.

-
yeah I ended up re-sewing them back on but it did take a day and a sewing machine to do it...can you order off the web? because amazon will have a repair kit.
-
I think it is great we garden all over the globe and can talk and share information on the web. Good luck in your garden.

I am in Egypt Gary, but I am a gardener for flower plants and vegetable ones. I keep watching your video, and got many tips and ideas.
-
My zipper is already splitting at the seems. The screw are a good idea. I am looking for zipper repair now.
-
Thanks for taking the time to watch. Are you gardening in the US or a different country?

Hi Gary, this is really a very helpful simple greenhouse but it will work, disease control is my main issue and having a small greenhouse will make it. You are so careful for the wind, as it happens and can blow them off, so put the weight to hold on sides... good idea and common sense to do it. I watch almost all of your video and sure gets a lot of ideas and tips....thanks.

hello! great video :-) i have 2 of this type of greenhouse I got the first in march last year it was a very good greenhouse for starting seeds and then growing on plants. But by the time September came and the wind hit 30-40 i found the greenhouse in bits crushing my plants!.. all i did was drill through the plastic connectors and put a screw through the plastic and into the metal poles on all joins it took a long time but did the job it took winds of 62mph last week well worth doing. good luck!

Im just learning about heating. If you have any good links I would appreciate it.
-
THAT is great information. I did not know about the zippers. Would you mind if I did a video on it. That is a life saver for extended these types of greenhouses. THANKS!
-
ABOUT THE ZIPPERS: I have had two mini green houses, basically plastic cover over a rack. The first thing to go is always the zipper. I was lucky enough to get a hard sided green house for my birthday last year BUT we have also discovered "stick on zippers from lowes (I have a video on my page, not sure if I can post it or not.)
-
$50 is a great price too. I hope it goes well.
-
I got the same greenhouse but for $50 I thought it was a good price too. Thank you for all the great videos
-
Certainly! Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
-
Thats what I thought. Big Lots is a good place for gardeners.
-
I think if they dont get a deep freeze I can do it. With the nights hitting 45 and the day hitting 75, they seem to be going into hibernation. Either that or they have a wicked disease.
-
Nice price Gary. I almost purchased the small Greenhouse you have inside the big one at Big Lots. They only had the floor model and it was not in good shape. Thank you for the video.

I'm glad you decided to over-winter your peppers ^_^
