re:: the bird bath very poor design. to improve the standard bird bath such as the one shown, put a flat rock in the middle of the water and then, using smaller rocks, tilt the flat rock so one edge is under water and the back edge is above the water. the birds prefer to be able to walk into the water to get their drink.

i thought scientists were supposed to be smart. the reason the bugs die when drenched with dawn is their air passages are blocked with soap or bubbles which do not allow oxygen to pass. this also makes them climb as they think the reason they cant breath is that they are under the oxygen level or water level so to speak. but very funny guess. however you were close when you said they dry out. but that doesnt kill them as quick as blocking the breathing pores. organic oil is canola oil and neem oil comes from a tree

Informative video--thanks
I did notice however in the background something I call: "A wolf in sheep's clothing!"---the White Cabbage Butterfly! My wife and I thought they were so pretty flittering around our new garden. But by watching YOUTUBE videos we learned that they lay eggs that turn into a worn that will destroy green leafy vegetables! -
