I know this is an older video but I have a new rhynchostylis I got a couple weeks ago and it now has 4 leaves near the bottom turning yellow and getting ready to fall off. I'm new to orchids but this seems a little not normal to me. what should I do?

I have an otherwise healthy phaleonopsis I've had for years, I know it's normal for the bottom leaf to fall off, but this one has a leaf doing the same thing but it is the 3rd leaf from the bottom turning yellow this time, and there are 4 healthy leaves above that one. Is this just a shedding of the older leaf too even though it's not the bottom leaf? Thank you for your time!!

Hi Danny! Again, I need your advice! On the 5/8/ I received an orchid from a friend. She had it for a couple of years and then just gave it to me. It is a phalaenopsis with no spikes, with 4 pale green leaves and one newborn and of course with roots in a perfect condition with many many green tips on them. And you know what? After 3 weeks I have it I fertilized it and in a week time after fertilizing it, all the leaves turned up yellow and I find every day one leave at the table. Whats happening with this plant? The leaves a week ago were just fine, stiff and juicy. The plant is not hydrated at all and never was. What I did wrong? It is difficult to believe that I destroyed the plant by putting water inside the leaves or I fertilized it with a wrong way. What do you thing? Having in mind that at the same day I fertilized this one I and some others I have in the same way (1/2 dosage of the recomended). Please advice!!!!

But what if the stem turn yellow instead of the leaves

this video addresses just the ideas about yellowing leaves I really have been recently concerned about! Is it best to cut yellowing leafs off before they go through the motions of dying?

Hello Danny! A few days ago I have made a post on orchidnature.com about my colmanara's few new leaves starting to become yellow, I have included photos http://orchidnature.com/forums/topic/yellowing-leaves-on-colmanara-masai-red/ I cannot decide if i should start watering it less (as I say in the post, I live in a very warm apartment and the media is drying quite fast so I have been watering more frequently, about every 3 days - i only let it soak maybe once a week though), I have recently added fertilizer too...I am worried about this yellowing because the plant has been doing very well since I have bought it and this was a sudden change... also the bulbs are more wrinkly, that is why I opted for a more frequent watering. I would be very glad if you or someone else could take a look and tell me what they think!

I was given a Phal with very few roots, it did have small 2 air roots but a few weeks after I repotted it in to the proper bark media it dropped it's last 2 leaves! They still felt strong and were dark green/red so it clearly had too much direct sun, is there anything I can do to save it?

what is the pink and white orchid at 7;40

I have a phal and lately I noticed the plant was turning yellow. the bottom leaves look the worst but I'm guessing they were just the old ones. while watching this video I noticed that my top leaf actually broke near the crown. my questions are should I cut the top leaf that broke? do you think yellowing could also be from too much sun? I didn't know that they actually like bright shade.
-
what if three of the bottom leaves of a mini phal yellow leaving only two top ones ? I don't know what is happening? the old spikes also got yellow directly after the bloom left.
-
how much sunlight should my phalaenopsis get to keep it healthy?
-
If I periodicly cut the new leaves from my phalaenopsis and I will encourage her to produce new leaves indefinetly then by cutting leaves, and it producing more and more leaves I can create a orchid with a "stem" and on the top a bunch of leaves just like a palm tree, would it work?
-
very good information in this video, Danny, thank you for keep making those videos!
-
what happens when a Phalaenopsis bloomed for several weeks and never loose any green leaves?

Hello Danni! I have little white bugs in my orchid medium (I believe they are called springtails) and am not sure how exactly to go about getting rid of them. I haven't found a video on them and am not sure if I am just overlooking it. If you haven't made one, I'd would like to request one ^_^. Thanks!
-
I don't know how you do it, but the last two videos you've done were literally concerns/question I had about my orchid right before I saw them on my feed! Thank you so much!

I was going to repot my phal orchid and see that the roots are black and some look like electrical wires. Should I bother repotting? It was in the original casing it came in when I received as a gift. Help, please.

Good morning Dani, Question about Chlorine treated water, am a newbie and not sure -- do you have an opinion about using tap water with chlorine .. currently am filling a gal container and letting set for a couple of days.. however am wondering if holding a plant under the tap to flush salts etc every month or so is harmful.. I live in PNW Washington ST we have great water here other than the chlorine...thanks for all your great videos -- very helpful..
