ONIONS - HOW TO GROW BIG SLICING ONIONS - SEED TO HARVEST (OAG 2016)
Tips, Tricks
In this video I show how I, with the advise of Pamela’s (at Garden Novice Farm) grew my best and largest onions. This video is a little long, but I show from planting the seeds in the autumn of 2015 to harvest the onions in June of 2016. I also show the best tips, ways, techniques and just plain trial and error ways of doing it. If I can do it, you can also! Check out Pamela's channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM6fJp0trkdRF2pb-ZC_biQ If you like this video, please comment below, tell me what you would like to see more of in my videos. Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss any videos I upload and thanks for watching my channel. When it comes to gardening, it’s like another day in paradise! Living close to the ground. I have been told the onions that are flatter are sweeter in taste. if this so, is there a way to do this or is it just nature? thanks

Thank you for sharing ! I'm in Albuquerque, NM - same zone as you 7(b) and work in raised beds for my urban garden. I'm a certified master composter from our local county extension office here. What is this "triple 13" fertilizer you mention ? I don't use chemicals in any of my growing .~Sam

Great video! The onions turned out GREAT! :) Thanks for sharing!

You have good video. It is just that your seedling to haverst timeline is way too long. May be you live in colder place than where I live. I only take us 3 months here from seedling onions to haverst.

how to store and how long do they last in their natural state?

This is very detailed and informative. I learned a lot. Thanks.

hey great info I never knew about the number of blades letting you know the size of the onion. I have onions growing now I learned a lot

Oh forgot to mention we live in zone 3b. thanks!

Thank you so much! As you and Mr. Danny were saying, I helped my Grandpa in his garden but I was much too young to learn all the important details. My husband and I are now new homesteaders in northern Quebec. Our onions came out very small. We didn't know the first thing about them. My problem now is what natural fertilizers can we use in place of the ones you mentioned. We live very far away from civilization and have very little money. We do however have chickens, ducks, pigs and a cow. God bless your family and thank you for sharing!

Love this video, very informative. You can never have too many onions, or garlic. Gardening is a labor of love with so many great rewards, mainly, I get to eat it ..LOLOL

WOW, OAG! My first time watching you video, but definitely not my last. So much info, very clear, precise & inclusive. Even I could probably follow these instructions & grow onions. However, it looks like a lot of work & time involved (which I just don't have, at the moment). I reckon I'll continue getting my onions from Aldi's, at least for right now. EXCELLENT audio & video footage. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!! It's very much appreciated.
