Tips, Tricks
For two months, starting from planting the very first seed, I filmed the growth of my okra plants in the Earth Box. Today, the first bunch of okra is ready to be cooked! Enjoy the fast travel through the various transitions from seed to table.

Your video inspired and helped motivate me for my first gardening endeavor in many years - I grew about 7 okra plants which did great in my very small side yard and tiny patch in front yard, too. Thank you - loved your video!!

Thanks so much for posting this. Would you mind telling me the dimensions of your planter? I'm attempting to grow okra plants for the first time. Some I planted in the ground and a few are in pots. Its been about 6 weeks but they're not near as tall as yours.

Hi, I've been trying to grow okra from seeds the same way you did in your planter box using wicking system. However, I have problems growing them. Some grew healthy but after weeks or so, they died off.
My planter is 24in (61cm) x 8in (20cm) x 7in (18cm) [H]. Soil depth is 6in (15cm). Enough sunlight; Fertilized. I suspect that the roots have penetrated into the water and cause root rot. Between the water reservoir and the soil is a plastic netting. Although the separator holes are wide, I covered it with a piece of cloth.
What could have been the problem in your opinion?. Is the soil not deep enough. -
That's looks awesome. I never knew okra got that tall. Thanks for the video!

If all my red okra bear fruits I will have many seeds !

Thank you for that video. I'm a new gardener and I didn't mark what was what when I planted my seeds. Now I'm tending things that I don't even know what they are. Your video helps me to identify the leaves in the early stages and figure out what is where. Lesson learned!

so these are the red okras! how do they taste compared to the usual ones? and also, how many okras could you get from a single okra plant?
-
I had no idea that they grew that tall either until it was right here in our garden...hehehe The flowers are gorgeous, aren't they?
-
That's a good idea...next time I will do something like that.

Thanks. I'm growing it again this year and it's producing a lot of yummy okra.

very nice video .... and I like okra very much

Hi , This is well done. The only improvement I would suggest is to edit in the dates and days. For example, planted day zero, m/d/yr and 10 days m/d10/yr etc.

Thank you so much! I have just planted the purple long beans and they looks fantastic but were too beautiful to eat.

The Red Velvet okra tastes so good. You can order the seeds from Burpee online. Try it!

Purple okra? thats rare!

Thanks!!!

that was awesome! nice one!

@robpal555 They seemed to do just fine because we were eating okra every week after about a month & 1/2 after the planting. It was so nice to have it fresh and the red velvet variety is really tender. Seeded some more this week.

@KristenMac100 The okra is producing lots and lots. We're eating it every weekend and loving it! Your Halloween sounds like it's going to be memorable to say the least!!!

@timido66 Thanks Van! I love seeing what other people plant as well! You should definitely go for the red okra. I'm cooking up a huge batch tomorrow night!
