OMG!

1 or 2 snow storms a year would be rare for Dallas. The last 4 years have been colder than normal.

Hi Brandon, I am about 50 miles north of you. We had 4 inches of solid ice on our decks. Had to use a hair dryer to melt enough to get the front door open. Worst I have seen since I moved to N TX 33years ago. I have 2 raised beds, one with a metal framed 12 inch high "greenhouse" and the other without. The greenhouse collapsed the plastic cover & 4in of ice has wiped that bed out. The other w/ cabbage, broccoli, br sprouts & kale may survive. So have heart, almost all is well in N TX,

I'm so sorry about all the damage but, boy, the iced trees are beautiful.
-
Ice insulates from my understanding . I'm in west tx and its thawing out today but tomorrow back to cold . Ugggg . Good luck .
-
Terrible for the garden but absolutely beautiful. It's really sad for the cilantro though.

We got hit hard in Arkansas, lastnight was -5, ice, sleet and snow, covered thick. I have my garden covered, but wasn't expecting sub zero weather for this winter. I feel your pain, stay safe!
-
My Kale is slumped over, it looks almost dehydrated, but feels nearly frozen solid. I'm not sure what I should do; if it needs water...well... shoot. My area hasn't had rain in a 2 weeks, but we did have some light snow... the soil looks really dry. Not sure what to do....
-
Yeah, the cabbage, kale, broccoli, and brussel sprouts should be fine when they thaw out. The Swiss chard might be okay too.
-
Holy Moly!!!! look at all that ice!! I can not believe it , I hope your garden will recover from this storm. We got lucky down here and the storm misses us, we just have the cold not water coming down. Keep warm

Brrr. The ice breaking tree limbs is one of the main reasons that Bradford Pear trees are not recommended. Although they are nice, their very vertical limb growth make them very susceptible to limbs splitting straight down the trunk when burdened with heavy ice. Good soup weather. ':o)
-
Wow you got it a lot worse than we did in South Central Texas! I hope you do an update video to show what survived. Stay warm :)
-
Hey Brandon. I am very sorry about your garden. I know that makes you sick seeing it frozen over like that. Is this storm normal for Tx. Have you had ice storms before?

HEARTACHE, all your hard work. I look forward to your update after the thaw. I hope you don't get wind. That would take down a lot of trees.

Such a cold weather

I remember this happened the year my Dad died 1985. It was a bad ice storm for East Texas. thnx for sharing, my sister lives in Richardson. Nice Christmas lights and decorations.
