Here's a quick tip for all you X-Grasshoppers out there. Have you ever experienced yellowing or wilting of your leaves? I'm dealing with it right now, but I've come across a few tips to help perk those plants up. Tinzicut over @ Down To The Roots Magazine was kind enough to share these with me, and I wanted to pass them on to you all. Be sure to check her site out. Also be on the lookout here at NMG for a review of her magazine. So, yellowing or wilting of leaves can happen for a number of reasons. It can be bacterial, too much heat, too much water, not enough water, lack of minerals, chemical interference or sudden changes in temperature to name a few. Adding Calcium and Magnesium and making sure the water you're using does not contain excess chemicals are all simple and potentially affective ways of preventing yellowing and wilting.

can you use tums in hydro/dwc the same way as in soil ? or eggshells

Thanks, Scott! Organic materials never go in my trash, and eggshells wait in a plastic cup on my windowsill. After a few "crush-downs" on the dried shells, when the cup is full, I take them to the garden. There, I crush them by hand only slightly & scatter them around plants. On the soil surface, it's like broken glass to slugs! When planting tomatoes, finely crushed shells get mixed into the hole to ensure Calcium uptake (regular watering is also required) so I get no Blossom-End Rot!

Tums. Calcium Carbonate being the active ingredient we're looking for here.
