Natural Filtration In My Aquarium (HD)
Tips, Tricks
When planting live plants in your aquarium alot of things are effected (mostly positively). The plants tend to release oxygen into the water which is great for aeration for your fish. Also, during the process, the plants act as natural filtration in your fish tank. Aquatic plants use ammonia, co2, and nitrates, among other things, to grow. Therefore making your tank much more suitable for fish and other forms of life. This video is just my thoughts on the process and how my 55g plated rainbow tank is overstocked and has 0 nitrate reading on a daily basis. Really goes to show the effects that amazing growth can have on your aquarium as a whole. nice tank

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but do you still put in water conditioner? I'm super interested in doing live plants again and replacing my filter with just live plants and a bubbler.
-
which filter is used? undergravel filter?
-
That was helpful. Thanks
-
Love your tank
-
have you checked your potassium levels in the tanks
-
i dont think you need to do so many water changes . i think 30% every 2 weeks is enought i do in my 55g and never had problems

its great to have a high uptake from your plants but in terms of plant health you never want to have below 10ppm nitrates. 10-20 range is perfect for a planted tank. plants need that nitrate to grow. you will be nutrient deficient with zero nnitrates over time. bba likes to thrive in low nitrate environments given the chance.

Great advice and very nice set up.

Plants also consume O2 during the night while expelling CO2. It's hilarious at the number of aquarium enthusiasts think that aeration only adds O2 when CO2 is also added. The only difference between a CO2 injector and an aerator is that the injector adds 100% too the water. I don't use an injector and my plants grow extremely well, even the high demanding plants.
