You mean a rain barrel? Get an oak one, if using natural, ... Or a dark colored polyethylene if you want, because both will help to keep algae growth to a minimum, ...

I have a 32 gal. rubber maid trash can in a place that has strong down pour from the roof...I get a lot of free water this way ...

I have some tomatoes plants they're coming out well,am learning from you thank you

Your garden is looking really nice, great job. Keep us posted on its progress. We also have been having a lot of rain this summer and I have decided to put flowers in pots rather than in the ground because of flooding.

I don't remember you mentioning where you live. I'm in NW Indiana and we have gold finches. I love them! They don't eat flowers nor tomatoes, only seeds. They love thistle seed. I don't have any birds in my area that eat tomatoes or flowers. Hope this helps. Good luck gardening! I'm an avid gardener. :)

I'm so jealous of your garden setup! I swear, once I move into a new place, I want to do something like this.

We planted 6 tomato plants this year and one died. I'm excited for the rest of them though! Maybe next year we can add another vegetable or maybe some herbs.

I had rain barrels in my other house and it was great for my garden, you can find some on craigslist and it is much better for your plants since rain water is better for your plants than sink water and cheaper, we attached them to the gutters and put a piece of screen so the leaves won't go into the barrels, checkout youtube for more info on rain barrels :)

I use ammonia as an animal deterrent. Not the most natural, but it works. I soak a piece of ribbon in it and tie it on the fence of my garden. Keeps them out! Also, zucchini's grow really fast. They can get pretty big! I just harvested 3 in my garden. If you have a deer problem, shiny, sparkly things keep them away. I have wind chimes that I use to keep them out. Deer will jump fences (usually 5 feet or less) to get to gardens. Are you growing dinosaur kale? I think I might grow that next year. The kale that I'm growing this year is getting eaten by bugs. ;( Good luck on your garden! Keep me posted!!

We read somewhere to keep birds away from tomatoes is to put out a birdbath . Whn they got after tomatoes they are really thirsty. Also put out a bird feeder. We have done this for 2 years now and it works. No birds in our garden. Hope this helps.

Great video. I just started container gardening . Do you poke holes in any of your containers to allow for drainage? Hope to see more videos as your plants become larger.
