Thank you for explaining the 128 block despawn limit for me. That was the missing piece to my understanding of this. I had been watching a let's play from a person I respect, and he built a spawner 128 blocks up, but he never explained why because he assumed that everyone already knew, and I did not.

What mods are you using ?
-
please...tell me that this works for 1.9, otherwise I would start drinking....
-
Do you know if putting signs on the output hole will stop the spiders from grabbing the sides and clogging the system?
-
Nothing is spawning

I've modified this design to add Xperia gathering
I've added a glass sticky piston floor 7 blocks up from the hoppers, this is controlled by an inverted button (floor normally active). After falling to this new temporary bottom & taking damage, I open the floor and they fall the remaining distance where I'm waiting to finish them off. I use a 27 block drop normally.
I have a glass wall from the hoppers up to the glass to enable me to see when the drop zone has mobs on. There's also a switch so I can stick the floor open if I'm wandering away. -
i was able to make this differently styled and also 5 stories tall

You are. A lazey ass you don't show us how to build the mob thap
-
Mine doesn't drop a lot of mobs but I put a couple of chests with hoppers on them underneath and that helps catch what does fall. I check them every so often and find a few items inside.

I/m confused.....
-
great tutorial

Can you create a more advanced video that can help you sort the drops that a mob drops into hoppers, then to chests? Or can anyone post a link for me please? I'm attempting a mob trap for minecraft xbox..

Is there any way to kill the mobs and catch the loot via river so all you need to do is stand in one spot and you collect the loot? I made this trap in MCPE 0.8.1
-
Spiders will stick to the wall so it has the chance that spiders will get down there alive.
-
Hey a good spawner Then are vers good

Thanks for the idea! It worked great on the ps3 version. I had to adjust the mob fall distance, but after that it was bringing in drops very quickly. I did put a fence around the platform edges as skeletons were knocking me off the side with arrows while falling.

thanks, and thanks for being articulate.

How come when I make it in creative I get a lot more mob spawns than in survival ??
-
