See more wildlife at Caveman's Nature Site http://wildcaveman.weebly.com/ These orange, red, black and sometimes yellow-orange insects with black patches are Milkweed Bugs. They are particular to the Milkweed Plants and feed on the seeds of the pods. They do not harm or kill the plants and are harmless to other plants in the yard. Also, they are harmless to humans and pets. Milkweed bugs are bright orange when babies and change as they age. They can be orange to orange-red when older and you can see the black spots turn into patches between the color. The color difference depends on the weather, region and age of the insect. Adults also get yellow to yellow-orange color with the black as seen in the video on a couple of larger Milkweed Bugs. These insects always remind me of Halloween because of their color and the fact that I see them in October of every year on the Milkweed Plants in the area. There are two species of these insects, commonly called the Small Milkweed and Large Milkweed Bugs.
