Our chickens have been producing between 15 and 20 eggs per day. We don't use any lights in the chicken coop. We attribute this feat to the extra raw protein we are feeding them from our meal worm farm. The meal worms are doing great and producing like crazy! Bluebirds love mealworms! Do you have any bluebird houses on your property? We feed our bluebirds mealworms throughout their breeding season. (Central MN)

Did the containers come with screen or did you make them that way?

Never started with so many worms, but always seem to run out and have to start again.

Does seem like lot of effort for little gain. Wouldn't growing duck weed or some other crop yield more food?

I'm checking in to starting my own worm-growing operation and was wondering if you all have an instructional article or video on how to do this? If you don't have an article, can you please point me to one worth reading? I know there's info all over the internet but since you all have a handle on this you probably know what's worth it and what's not.

Is it cheaper to buy the high protein feed for the chickens or to buy the rolled oats to create the meal worms as a supplement and a lower protein feed?

Zach, Can you please show more on how to make the set up? Like, how do you make the screens? Did your father in law cut out the bottom of the drawer to let the castings fall through to the lower drawer? Thanks in advance!
