LiF: Life is Feudal - Farming Tutorial - Plow, Sow, Crop Cycle, Harvest, Recycle
Tips, Tricks
A LiF - Life is Feudal - video regarding farming land. I made this video despite others being uploaded since nobody seems to cover crop cycles, harvesting, and what happens to the fertile soil when you've harvested crops from it. Farming is a relatively simple process, provided you exclude crop cycling. However it takes time - I recommend taking up hunting and trapping hares and chickens to assist your farming skill while giving you something to do on the side. Tools required: Shovel, Sickle - get a branch, click on it and select create primitive tool Process: - Equip your shovel, and right click a grass square. Farming == Plow. - Right click on another grass square. Farming == Gather Wild Plants. With the seeds you acquire from Gathering, you can sow them on the land you farmed when your farming is 30+. Wait several hours for the crops to finish. Mature crops look as follow: - Cabbages will show as a full circle with the cabbage in the middle. - Potatoes will look like a very wild tuft of leaves. - Carrots will have a small orange stub at the top. - Onions will have a big chunk of leaves on top of them, instead of just 5 or less. - Grapes will reach the top of the stick and have visible grapes showing. - Peas will also cover the whole stick that supports them. - Flax will look just like flowers. When matured, right click on the crop square. Farming == Harvest. Lower Ground on Used up Soil to rid yourself of it or Plow it, right click it and go: Farming == Fertilize, if you have Dung in inventory - From coops. Once your soil has been removed/fertilized and you're back on a patch of fertilized soil which has been plowed, simply repeat the cycle.

The soil that turned black was due to a graphics error. Plowed soil stays brownish in color. Fertile soil is dark gray. Adding fertilizer will make brown soil into dark gray fertile soil.
