I have a copper pan type container that I put gravel in the bottom because I was told to do it and there's not much in the bottom should I bother to remove the light layer of gravel? Or should I just leave it

I'm really grateful for stumbling upon this video and all your helpful info! I know very little; however, I've learned from my dad and others that the reason to put rocks in the bottom of container is for poorly designed pots. Example, one heavy clay pot with only one whole. Taking a few small river rocks (not gravel) and layering them at the bottom (or pieces of broken ceramic pots) can help force the water down if the hole is more concave. I just use it as a diverter. Sometimes the big hole or holes get clogged and especially outdoor plants. It seems to really help to keep plants from getting moldy if you accidentally overwater them (which I tend to do a lot). Thanks again!

pls do tutorial on how to propagate a cactus!!

You don't need to be so catty, not everyone knows what's best for a plant from the get go. I was adding rocks to my potted plants because I thought it may help to get some air gaps at the bottom for the roots to not rot and stay drained. You said "ugh I don't know why people do it, they're being cheap blahblag" ... Not at all ? I think most people just like to either accessorize or try to make their plant happier. The rest of the video was really helpful though, not trying to be critical I just wanted to say that. Lol.

Would a potting mix of 50% miracle grow organic potting soil and 50% gravel be good for cactus/succulents? Worth noting, most of the bark/wood chips from the original soil mix has been sifted out, but I could add it back.
If it's not suitable for cactus/succulents then what plants, if any, might it be good for? -
Do zebra cactus plants have small roots or just one big one and how do I separate it's baby when attached to the mother plant but doesn't look like it has it's own root? Thanks

Thank you so much on the info about drainage. I was always taught to add rocks or gravel to the base of my planters. What you explained made so much sense. No more gravel pits for my containers from now on! And i too had also wondered about containers without drain holes. Love your videos!

Hi Laura Can you please tell me the company name of the water syringe that you use to water the succulents. I went to amazon and could not find the same one and also what name brand water meter do you like best? I work at an orchid nursery in the retail store and we also sell succulents and these would be a great little items to offer our customers.Thank you for all your helpful hints! You are absolutely adorable as well as so fun and informative! Cindie
