Just an idea for the future (if you come back from hiatus), if you have a large area of forest that that you want marked out as a preserve, try putting a street into the middle of it and cluster a few ranger stations to build a forest conservation and education center. Of course, you may have to run a power line out there, but I'm sure there's a low tension line mod that looks a lot better in a forest preserve than the stock high-tension lines.

Wonder if slight hills in the farm land would look cool? seen those waves @17:47 they looked cool

I think you should use ExtraCheats.dll plugin (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/21118-simcity-4-extra-cheats-plugin/)
In case you've ran out of money, you just need to use "moolah <value>" command to set how much money you desire instead of weaknesspays that only gives 1000. So you can avoid that simulation to run xD
Btw, the city is getting nice with development :D
For tree controller, (or god mode tree changer) I would say, must to be very careful. Because it may cause crash when there's something wrong. -
Beautiful attention to detail.

How did you get those intersections for the streets (like at 1:18)? Is it in NAM or is there a separate mod? And what is it?
-
get the PEG random woods , theyre amazing ! :P

The town looks like Alabama.

Great series so far strictoaster. Here's a few mod suggestions for you (get ready for a long wall of text).
1. First of all, to change the set of trees that are planted by the God mode brush you need to install a mod called a "Tree Controller". You should try the recently release "Cascadia Tree Controller". It's available on SimPeg and Simtropolis. This type of mods usually require a lot of dependencies to be installed which normally are the various trees, bushes, flowers, etc. since the only thing the controller does is "assign them" to the God mode brush. you should already have a lot of those dependencies installed on your game since you have the spruces, pines, maples and all that stuff already available on the menu. Here's the link on Simpeg:

2. About having more variety of houses I suggest you go to SC4Devotion and check out their "file exchange" system. Register there and use the "power search" tool to list the mods created by Mattb325. He has lots of awesome low density houses available there.
3. About getting more parks. The guys at SimPeg have great "Park Set" mods and even waterfront mods to create big parks and marinas and other stuff. Especially look for Paeng's mods, many of those he also uploaded to Simtropolis, and also look for Pegasus CDK3 collections to create awesome waterfronts. Here's some links to some of this stuff:

4. From your simcity videos I can see you're going for that artistic/realistic look for your cities with low density stuff and lot's of farming and forests. I also suggest you take a look at the Logging Addons on Simpeg. It's a collection of plopable lots to create/simulate logging/woodcutting areas. Lots have to be ploped manually since it's not really "growable industry". Once again pay carefull atention to the variuos dependencies for these lots. It needs a bit of work and patience to have it all correctly installed but it's cool to create logging scenes in the forests.

5. Finally, about the user interface question you make on your video, I'm not a modder myself but the idea I have from following the simcity 4 communities over the years is that the UI is deeply coded into the game and not really acessible for modding. The only mods I've seen regarding the UI are texture/color mods that simply change some sort of PNG/JPG images to change the colors of the menus, like this one:
http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28750-docs-greyscale-ui/
I hope I've been helpfull to you.
Oh! By the way, if you go to SC4Devotion Forums, check out the "Real Railway Mod" thread. There's a guy there, eggman121 I think, that's really doing an incredible job on modding the railway textures and adding catenaries to them. It's still work in progress but it's leaving a lot of people drooling for the next release of the NAM. -
I'm sounding like a right noob aren't i , anyhow how do you stop missions coming up?
