Learn to identify Mg deficiency in your Marijuana crops, today on a grower tips episode of Lex's World. I've had this episode on the books ever since my Nitrogen episode a while back, but I had to wait for it to happen to someone to truly capture it. This mobile deficiency results in yellow colored leaves and might first be confused for Nitrogen deficiency. But the rust-colored spots give it away for what it truly is. The easiest/fastest way to fix the problem is to bump up the pH. If you're worried about stopping the spread of damage fast you can also add a magnesium booster, often sold together with a calcium booster.

nice job man!, you ever use magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt)?

thanks for the knowledge homie

OK I'm a first time grower and after watching this video I definitely have this problem. all I do is use tap water to water my plants I have 4 which I believe all is suffering from this deficiency but one is worse than the others. my question is can you tell me if there is something to add to the tap water that I or most people would have in their kitchen? I am clueless on the chemical properties of some things that i could add to my water that would raise from deficienct to efficient levels.i am very motivated to fix this but failed chemistry . thanks

great tutorial, I have such a hard time explaining the difference between Nitrogen & Magnesium deficiencies without visual aids . . I have used your tutorial a dozen times or so, in the past, to get my point across to my head-scratching friends. I have a question, and you can msg me if you would rather, but how the hell are you growing such stocky little ladies ?!?! what are your methods, equipment, applications and process to have them looking the way they do ?? are they Clones, or from Seed ?? T5's, CFL's, HID's ?? Organic or Not ?? Do You Feed to Waste, or are they in Tables or just Pots with Saucers ?? What are their Genetics & are they AutoFlower, Feminized, or Regulars ?? Did you FIM, or Top them ?? How old are they ?? Are they still in Veg (18/6), or have you Flipped them to Flower (12/12) ?? Did you have them under 24 hr. light, and if so, for how long ?? I would love any feedback you can throw my way. I have had plants look like that in the past, but it was normally a combination of taking a top clone, the mothers genetics, Topping or FIMing, Trimming, Lollipopping, and then planting them up to their waists (2-4 nodes up from bottom). If that's the case then I understand, but if it's something entirely different, I would greatly appreciate the info . . Thanks for your Videos, and keep up the good work 👍

I like the video bc you are descriptive and all the info is right there. So many times we all have to sit through the need to roll a blunt and blow smoke into the camera which is all cool when we doin it in our lives but when I want to find out what to do about (in this case, suspected mag deficiencies) There the info is. Thank you! Maybe you can discuss and suggest a proper remedy, ie dose and frequency ECT Other than that nicely done and thanks

my leaves show this problem but theyre also very dry feeling to the touch including the top green ones which or contorted in a weird twisting way the green leaves on mine also seem puffed up. mag problem also?

i had this in middle of flower last grow. i put new fresh soil on top and bottom of pot

Nah; those rusty spots are manganese toxicity which is typically caused by either heat sterilizing soil at too high a temp and/or for too long, and/or by excess watering. These activities turn the soil manganese into a highly available (and thus toxic) form. One alternative explanation is that the soil simply has high levels of Mn. Manganese toxicity in plants can be combated by plants through high magnesium uptake, beyond an otherwise optimal level. Lower soil pH will reduce manganese uptake. Check out science based sources that do actual lab analysis on the soil and plant tissue and substantiate their claims. Google is a tool that can help find very MANY numerous such sources.

this started happening to all 4 of my plants within 2 weeks of them popping.whats the deal with that ?? it was autos i was growing

hey guys, im having a similar problem with my plant but its severe rust spot. Not sure if its CalMg or rust fungus? video of plant on my channel. Any suggestions would help.

Has anyone ate the leaves off the plant?Lol! A salad or something? I wonder how it tastes!

I agree with most stuff, but what does the age of the plant have to do with any deficiency? And what if it's a magnesium antagonism? Mag's in pretty much every fertiliser, so the chances are you have more than enough already. It's more likely too much potassium or calcium

Thank you! It is a waste of time asking deficiency or leaf discoloring questions in an online forum. You'll get 50 different answers. But this...this is GOLD. Glad I found this channel.

I've watched this video like 4 times, I keep coming back to absorb every little detail...I found this one was actually the best I could find on you tube that was direct, informative and visual. Thank you. Great video!

Don't forget to bump the pH to between 6.5 and 7.0 for an indoor soil grow. You can add all the magnesium supplements you want but if the soil pH is much below 6.5 it won't be utilized very efficiently (or even not at all).
I got that bit of info from GrowWeedEasy.com and it proved to be good advice. I was adding CalMag to deal with my mag deficiency but until I bumped the pH up to about 6.8, (up from averaging between 6.4 - 6.6) the condition worsened in spite of the CalMag treatments. -
what about purple stems? what causes that? calcium is it?
