Look again. It's underneath the mower deck. You use a 3/8 drive( no socket).

Unfortunately, on Briggs and Stratton engines, they do not put an oil drain, so yes, this is the correct way to drain your engine oil from this type of engine. I have to change the oil on 4 engines (that I have) like this.

@lukedoc12345 correct tiping mower over to drain oil can create probs,all you need to remove oil plug is a socket wrench with an extender,tip mover over gas side down and stick in wrench and turn,easy as pie.Have oil pan ready.
