Michigan State University, Purdue University, and University of Illinois. all have long term studies about nitrogen leaching in soils. They have proven in a homeowner lawn there is virtually NO leaching in the soil. In agricultural environment there is substantial leaching that occurs. Phosphorus in some states is so abundant that the soil does not need Phosphorus. Having master gardeners talk to people is like having a sales associate at home depot try to sell you something. good god.... Get an actual Agronomist or a turf scientist to talk to people about their lawns.

Thanks for sharing with lawn care professionals and homeowners.

I think a big misconception with IPM is that it is organic. When really at best IPM is a bridge from chemical to organic. A soil test should be taken before applying anything. It is step in the right direction but it is not a step towards sustainability.

The government trying to help. Huh. Well that's different.

More could have been explained about ACTUAL lawn care tips instead of saying what shouldn't be done. I would have liked to have seen something more on using lime and under what conditions

I wish they hadn't said "take your soil sample to your Extension office and they'll send it off for you." No they won't. If you use a commerical lab, you're on your own for the postage.
