Late Evening Planting Apple Trees And Protecting From Deer
Tips, Tricks
Monday evening I decided it was time to plant some of my trees and put up fencing to protect them from deer and rabbits. It was about 7 in the evening when I decided to plant the trees. It was still nice out so I wanted to use the time and get them out there. I did not get them all planted yet though but I did get two apple trees and a pear tree planted. I cut some tree branches to use as stakes and pounded them into the ground in a square pattern around each tree. I ran chicken wire around the stakes to form a square protected area around the base of each tree. The fence is about 18 inches away from the tree at any point and it is 3 feet high. This should protect the trees from deer and rabbits. It looks nice with the trees out there now. I was not sure how it would look with the chicken wire but it looks good. I still have two trees to plant and then I have to put mulch around the base of each tree to provide moisture and nutrients for the growing trees. I finished planting my little trees at about 8:30 in the evening and went in for the night. It was a good day. That's just way too much money to do that.

Electric fences are unethical. Hunting is murder.
-
The electric fence and the weed barrier look real good, keep putting a few loose rocks on the barrier. As time goes by you'll have a rock berm there.
-
Lots of animals eat the bark in the winter time .all tree I planted dead
-
Without a battery the electric fence means nothing to protect everything

what is your status on this land with all the work you are putting into it would you eventually own any of it.?
-
SO now you don't have to move from this spot, and everything has been delt with from your bylaws?

Just remember that you want lateral, not vertical branches on trees because the lateral branches are a lot stronger. When they get loaded with fruit, the vertical branches usually break due to the weight. Also, be sure to prune the trees to have a good structure and no crossing branches. On another note, those cages really look great and that property is cleaning up really nice. I wish I had that big of a piece of land to play with.

Love the trees Troy, but I'm curious... With those growing and making shade beneath them where are you going to permanently put your solar panels? I've always been interested in solar and because of your vids I have a small Harbor Freight system for emergencies now. :-)

A lot of sweat but it sure is worth the effort and transforming the property into a thing of beauty . Amazing what time and patience can produce. Thanks for sharing .

Nice :)

For your fruit trees, did you dig a deep enough hole and fill it with good top soil and provide a fair amount of water to help reduce the transition shock?
-
Hope you have plane the full size tree. So shade Will not hit your solar panels!

Keep up the good work!! -
When you add mulch to your trees don't put it up against the trees it will eventually kill them.

Your microphone is probably a pin hole on the front of the body. You might be able to cover it up with a rubber band and a cotton ball or something, they aren't as easy to modify as regular cameras. And be careful on long recording times, they can sometimes get hot,
