As another potential application... you could INSTANTLY melt snow off your walkway. No more shoveling! And the snow that melts to water, hit it again briefly and it turns to steam and evaporates and can leave the walkway dry: no slippery ice to worry about.

I would recommend watering down the area you wish to apply the kill to before doing the actual killing. Like in your walk space between garden beds. That dead grass would probably not have ignited but the kill would have remained just as effective.This has a two fold advantage.
1. The surrounding area is far less likely to be ignited accidentally.
2.The water that sheets off of the leaves will boil almost instantly thus enhancing the kill.

I see in the demonstration that violets were not burned out. Has anyone tried this on violets that are creating problems in an established lawn?

Nice Idea on weed control. Be careful NOT to burn any poison ivy or the like. The smoke can put poison ivy in your throat and lungs.

#1. Pretty sure propane is a chemical, so is water though.
#2. You need less than a second of flame on each plant to kill it, they will look alive but a couple hours later you will see they are dying. It also doesn't kill your vegetables that way.
#3 My Red Dragon is super fun and can even start fires in the rain. -

2. if you are starting a new garden or want to keep weeds out from under trees youtube "sheet mulching" and you never ever have to weed again,
3 this torch is safest when you torch after a rain so your fire doesnt spread. thats what we do on our 11 acres.
4 if you use this do not use a regular lighter... the flint one is the only kind to use. (gives you time to not burn your hand off) :) -
Only if you need to clear large areas, not good for spot treatment of weeds; will kill anything you torch!
