Oh how I love succulents! And, a succulent with lots of long lasting flowers is just the cat's meow. Enter the popular Kalanchoe blossfeldiana which is most commonly sold as a houseplant but here in Santa Barbara (USDA zone 10) mine enjoy the great outdoors year round. Here's how to take care of Kalanchoes, or Kals as we used to call them, both in the house and in the garden. I buy mine at the farmers market and although we used them a lot in the interiorscaping trade in offices and homes, I had never grown them in the garden before. I've discovered that Kalanchoes bloom almost all year round here with very little care. My kind of plant! thank you so much the video was informative. I have a beautiful multi colored kalanchoe plant, I bought a year ago this month. I've moved twice and left on the window sill in doors and out doors for lengths of time and she had continued to survive with strong leaves she even flowered again. I recently brought her in the house for Michigan winters are brutal :0 happy Thanksgiving 2016 :) she has been tougher then me this year I see lol so do you think I should repot her now? it was small when I got her, this lil cute plant I had to have and she's proven to be a keeper . oh, she also has new leaves coming in on all levels, the top, the base at the limbs, just popping up new leaves everywhere. she needs a bigger pot. please help me to keep her healthy and safe. I've fallen in love with "KaCho" ;) humbly asking for the Masters help. ... Lynne in Michigan

Hi! I recently removed some spent blossoms from my kalanchoe and the stems seemed to have dried out where I made the cuts, so I can't imagine there'd be any new growth there, am I doing it correctly or should I maybe try cutting further down? The only new growth I can see is right above some of the leaves on the stems. thanks

Hi there! Question: Any tips for getting a Kal to re flower? I have 2 plants I've had since the winter of 2014 and all through the summer of 2015 (they grew like crazy). I tried the whole 6 weeks of darkness routine around September using a grow light on a timer and dark blue pillow cases in preparation for Christmas and I got squat. It's been a few months, should I try again or never mind until winter of 2016? Thanks in advance! You can read about my plant adventures here if you like. :) anythingonocarina.blogspot.ca
