When is the best to repot a juniper nursery stock. For some reason I am having a hard time keeping them alive. I tried reporting a juniper without cutting too many roots. I also keep some of its soil. It did good for about 3 weeks but over the weekend the foliage started drying. I have it outside in my patio area, so it don't have direct light. I live in Palmdale which we get hot weather & a lot of wind. Please help thanks.

Nice looking juniper, a lot of potential in that tree for sure.

Student do you have a web site you go to to share photos and what not with other people besides youtube?

spot on. is the Walter Pall article the one with the maple clump? if not, thats a good one too :) i have been told that on the faster growing J. squamata varieties you can pinch, and need to, to slow them down a little and to help maintain shape once you have your structure set. before then would be pointless as you say

i was actually going to post a comment saying pretty much the same thing...most of this "pinch the new buds" stuff is actually really harmfull to the tree if done every year and throughout the season...the reason being, that every time you do, it weakens the tree...so you have to let it grow free to regain strength, then pune back, then let it grow free again...weak trees dont back bud anyway, so its pretty pointless...walter pall has a great article on this as well...

i had read about pinching out the buds on junipers in a book, but it is not considered good practice anymore, and can kill your tree eventually. it happened to me. there is a good simple guide on Michael Hagedorn's site, crataegus [dot] com. do a search for pinching junipers

Thanks , I think its just dormant I took it outside in my porch .. temperature is around 20-50 I hope it comes back in spring...

I purchased a small bonsai but then I realised it was semi dead the needles were hard and falling off. They were not green and soft. I'm guessing they didn't water it enough. So I repotted it and water it. Is there a way I can rejuvenate it ? I scraped the trunk and its still green and alive

Okay, i would really love a collection video though. :)

I seen tons of your videos with great great stuff, but then i see your yard and i don't really see any of them?? Where are they all..? Do you have a video of all of them if you dont you should make one.

Thank you for sharing your Bonsai videos! I am just learning about Bonsai and your videos are very helpful.

What is the species name of this juniper? My first bonsai tree (which I still have) is this exact same species. I never knew what specific species of juniper it was.

Very Nice tree! Maybe plant this in the ground for a year or two to develop the trunk?
