Rooting powder is for growing roots, not branches. And Jades don't even need rooting hormone - they root easily just by letting the bottom of cut dry out for a day or two then sticking in soil.

I found a large mature jade at a yard sale. It has always been keep in indirect light & sunburns if left in direct sun too long. My issue is that its so unwieldy, it has more of a look of vines than a tree. Especially since I've moved it indoors for winter, it has gotten a little droopier. Is my best option to trim the plant so the limbs aren't so heavy? Can you prune down into the brown "bark" or should I keep it above that level? Does the cut require any "care" after pruning? I really hope to turn this jade "vine" into a "tree" look. Thanks!!!!

Anywhere on a jade plant that you make any kind of scratch or cut will sprout new branches.
Never use cut paste on them. -
