Zone 7 here, I got Jacaranda seeds online from smartseeds.com
-
Great video! Have you seen these trees bloom in Beverly Hills(that was my first) jac's grow fast had one that became five ft tall but I believe I planted it in too much fertilizer and it died. :(
-
How are these doing now? I'm going to be starting some from seeds here in a few days and I was wondering how old these guys were? A year old?
-
Are you willing to sell some of your seedlings ?
-
For the jacarandas keep bringing them in until they develop hard wood
-
The seeds don't take very long, within a week. I think I got one in 3 days, but it was a long time ago so I don't remember. I haven't had any experience with survival temps, but they seem like the kind that will live in subtropical areas, get damaged by anything below freezing, but try to recover afterwards. Being in California, if there's any doubt, it's worth a try in a sheltered location.

Thanks for the update! Wow! The bigger ones are looking better than the one I have (of course mine was in a salsa jar for a while, so i'm sure it's stunted). Mine is growing quite fast now though so we'll see. I'm glad you love them so much. This all started with my random seed hunting trip in San Diego in the middle of winter. Ha, who knew?
-
lol.. Yup i have a full time job that takes up a lot of my time. it takes just a little care each day.. and sure i forget about some for a while... but they seem to be forgiving
-
What do you work,,, how do you manage to keep all of those plant alive,,:)
-
I will try a bigger pot in the spring for sure! Hey! I would love to see your wisteria! :)
-
Those Jacaranda are doing so well! I hope they flower within a year or two :) They grew so fast! I wonder if the root system grows even faster? Could try giving it an immensely larger pot next spring. I did that with wisteria, and it loved it. Going to hack away about half the root mass and prune it again to keep it shapely. Eating goji berries right off the bush sounds amazing...I need to grow some fruit.lol
-
how long did it take the seeds to germinate? i love those trees.. i guess because i love ferns. whats the lowest temp they can survive? I live in california, about 80 miles from san francisco.

You just need to go to your ebay account Purchase history and you can actually see what you bought three years ago. ;) I'm also interested on those beautiful trees!
-
I agree. I hope they stay looking that way. maybe the "fronds" will get longer with time? Who knows.
-
they were a random EBAY buy. not even sure who the seller is to be honest
-
I'll have toy google them and look for seeds! Thanks :)
