Also know as Blue Jacaranda, this sub tropical tree is native to South America but can now be found almost all around the world due to its beautiful long lasting blue flowers. Its bark is pale grey- brown in color and straight-grained. Compared to other species, the bark is rather thin causing it to dry quickly which makes it a great material for bowl carving. The flowers appear in clusters and bloom in spring and early summer. They are followed by woody seed pods which contain flat winged seeds. The pods are often gathered and decorated for use on Christmas trees and in dried arrangements.
