Introducing Italian Chicory (Dolci Talli): A 3 Season Flawless Garden Green - TRG 2016
Tips, Tricks
This variety of Italian Chicory, Dolci Talli, is flawless. I doesn't seem to be bothered by diseases or pests. Here in Maryland Zone 7, I plant it in the spring and harvest through fall. I plant more in the fall and it overwinters nicely. It is mild in the cool seasons and bitter in the warm season but still pleasant to use through all seasons. Try it in your garden! Hi Gary – Saw the lovely flows and usage of the plant on your video. I am trying to figure out what variety of chicory you are growing. As from what is shown on the web Italian Chicory is called Radicchio and usually has purple leaves . Is this s type of Radiccio and the sub variety is Dolce Tallia Recently purchased some Italian Chicory seeds from West Coast Seeds and trying to figure out if they are the same or similar as what you are growing
(See Link 1 https://www.westcoastseeds.com/shop/vegetable-seeds/chicory-seeds/radicchio-seeds/treviso-chicory-seeds/)
From my reading about Italian chicory is Cichoriumintybus, Asteraceae(See Link 2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radicchio)
Whilst common chicory is Common chicory, Cichorium intybus (See Link 3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicory)
There is also endive which is commonly referred to as chicory Cichorium endivia(See Link 4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endive)
I am also seeking to purchase seeds for more unusual crops, do you perhaps have a seed catalogue? Look on your blogpage but did not see one, maybe I missed a link. And do you ship overseas? -
Gary you have nothing to be sorry about. Best wishes Bob.

Awesome - Can it be used as fodder for cows & sheep ?

Great video

I've grown it for 40 years here in Wildwood, Alberta. --- it grows wild in southern BC. I love it, I put flower petals in tea, cake cookies and blend the rest of it into water, lemon and cukes. makes a yummy drink

Nice.

I tried to send you a photo of my Ital Chicory I planted last year and reseeded itself, the same with Italian Parsley, that nearly took over my raised bed but since we use it every day I let it. It is very healthy full of vitamins and minerals.
-
great stuff how did you collect seeds?
-
Very interesting!

Hi Gary! I've tried to get in contact with you on Facebook. Can you please check your messages I know your probably really busy but if you could respond I would really appreciate it.

This Italian lettuce is great. Grew up eating this lettuce and was always something good from the garden. Salad should be made with onion and
two hard boiled eggs. A little Italian dressing and a loaf of hard bread. This lettuce is full of iron. Enjoy. -
Gary, any recommended sources for seed?
-
Where did you find the seeds for this?
