What is the size of the small poly pipe you have used?

Thank you.. I worked in a city nursery and found that having the irrigation line in a "loop" produced even pressure/water distribution through all emitters. I agree the small tubing is not worth it in small areas when you can just put emitter directly into the main line. However, the smaller tubing is good/cost effective when you have a "hung" system (for tree nursery) and the small line extends a few few down to the pot from the larger line.
