For those asking questions, I tried it and here is where I am after 6 months.
I started a lemon tree from seed earlier this summer. A quick rundown of what I did may not be what others suggest, but so far I'm getting great results. I did the damp paper towel in a dark area to start the roots and about half of the 10 seeds I started with began to grow roots. I planted all of the rooted seeds and tried different depths and watering. I found leaving just a small part of the sprouting root of the seed exposed and keeping it shallow in the dirt was the only one that really took off. I'm in Indianapolis and we had a lot of rain this year, but the large pot (same size as the one shown in this video) had great drainage and whenever there was a dry spell of a week or so I'd occasionally water, but not daily. The seed is now a 4inch tall tree. I have found the only problem is the bugs keep eating the leaves off, but they grow back quickly and I'm moving it indoors this week. I know you have to take a paintbrush and rub it around the blooms for pollination and I know it will give your house a citrus clean smell so I'm anxious to see how it does during a cold winter. I'm giving it a window of sunlight as well as a desk lamp grow uv bulb in hopes that will keep it growing healthy until I can put it back outside next summer! I love my lemons and really hope my first time growing is successful! -

I dont get it! they say all you need is a lemon seed just from a lemon. take the seed out , germinate, then put it in soil , and it will grow...... now they are saying u need a lemon tree starter. and u get this where? canadian tire?..... sounds easier to just start with the seed. but she also makes it sound like u need that lemon tree starter. should i still just only use the seed itself? will i grow lemons with just the one seed?? please help
