i love your plants

I am happy to know there is someone else who is a sucker for plants. I am an avid gardener I love to see things grow. I used to plant a plant every day. My plants are my friends. Last year I bought a Poinsettia and after Christmas I repotted it. Well during the summer heat, it dried up. I was sick and could not water regularly. I intend to buy another this year. I have plants in every room of my house, including the bathroom. Thank you for this video.

I got a question, my neighbor gave me what looks like a Minnie tree in a pot with leaves barely spotting. They look like suede three sided leaves do you know what it might be? Thanks

You need a big aquarium in there to keep up the humidity! Start crossing hobbies and make a collaboration with someone like dustins fishtanks! My two favourite things :)

do you sell elephant ear cutting.

Would you suggest a humidifier?

ray you're the mr roger's of gardening

Ray I have question for you - Im trying to find one of your lamp stands (something similar) but I am having a hard time finding one that has the adapter to put the bulb, many of the stands just have adjustable height but nothing to insert a bulb into. What should I be looking for? Do you have any advice? thanks in advance

I know you dont like promoting products but, can you point me in the direction as to where I can purchase mites please?

Ray I be-leave what you have there is some species of Maranta (Prayer plant) I be-leave a Maranta (Prayer Plant) earned its name because of the way its leaves fold together at night, like hands closed in prayer. Its leaves unfold in the morning light, sometimes making a rustling sound. Cool, huh? So, if yours dose this crazy magical thing, you have yes' we have prayer plant! If not, then it could be a dumb cane ( Dieffenbachia ) and that one, is poisonous : ( x

Ray,
Great video lots of good tips and answers to questions i have had in the past but never asked. I have one more based on the comment you made about the Rapunzel tomato. How many tomato plants do you typically grow outdoors in a season? I grow a large indeterminate paste tomato and I usually do 6 plants with a 1.5' spacing in two rows. I was wondering about maybe using the praxxus method and having a single row of 2 or three plants. -
Ray, I also 'had to have' a Black Mask Alocasia Elephant Ear plant when I saw one in a Publix supermarket house plant section. I was away during a cold spell, (my plant is lightly shaded on my front porch,) and shortly after I returned home, it sadly seemed to wither and die, but I decided to bring it indoors and withhold water to see if it would come back. It did! It was only Alocasia's normal dormancy period, so I learned. Also, they apparently come in small pots because they're comfortable growing in cramped conditions. When they revive in Spring, the tubers sprouting from the plant are easily pulled away from it and potted up separately. Mine had 3, all with beginning roots so I'm going to try planting them in pots, and later outdoors. Many people here have the large green-leafed variety that often die back in Winter, but come back every year, so I'm hoping for the same with the Black Mask. We'll see...

Ray, the elephant ear with the purple underside is a Black Shield Plant - Alocasia Polly according to the photo on Amazon and I found an informative article if anyone cares to read about them.......I'm going to put mine back into a smaller pot and see if it will spread better. http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/alocasia-plant/growing-african-mask-plant.htm

I have one of the elephant ear plants like the one you have in this video. It was on the north side of the house under a covered porch all summer, did very well. I brought it inside this fall and had it in a south window. It bloomed, but then stated to lose leaves. I cut off the forming seed pod, hoping that it would help. Any ideas? Could it be possible that it needed to be fed because of the blooming and setting seeds?

i grow poinsettias outdoors year round in southern california. not the one you find at the store, those are hybrids. i grow the wild type that grow in mexico. they can get up to about 8 feet high in just one season.
