i thought the goal was to not let them get that big? i was always taught to pick them when they are smaller, soft and sweet

The smalltown in India I was norn in,it is at the foothills of the Himalayas, & has ... had... the typical 6 seasons a year. And the size of the vegetable that grew there was nubelievable. The round eggplant were at least 4 lbs each, & the radishes were 24" the smallest ones. Once to the localfair they showcased a botle gourd (the long palegreen squash in the video) on a cot... it was 70" long, & tender inside...

Very nice! Do you think letting your squash get so big detracts from the flavor? Good tip about the faux powdery mildew.

This is really amazing to watch! Wow!
But I always thought the bigger zucchinis don't taste as good. What is your thought on this?
Wow.... This is so impressive! -

really enjoy your channel guys and congrats on your success! i agree with other comments - when the zucchini get that large...they are only good for bread and such. just something to point out for first time gardeners who may not realize that it's best to harvest veggies sooner when they are at their peak. sadly most of this harvest would have to be composted.

Note for next year ... zuccini is best harvested when it is about 6 - 8 inches in length. That way it is tender without huge seeds. It keeps the plant producing too.
