Reaganite Sr. swears by planting via moon phase (an increasing moon) based on the Old Farmer's Almanac. I'm actually going to do some companion planting this year. Beans with corn, since corn is a heavy feeder of nitrogen and beans fix nitrogen into the ground. Thanks for watching.

Another great video, very informative! Keep 'em coming ! Do you sow seeds and plant by the moon phase..? And do you also do any companion planting...?

That's funny. I'm unemployed currently and that was MY IDEA TOO!

Awesome!

Made drunken compost tea yesterday. I'll recheck in 10 days for progress.

To me its just spring time in arkansas !! Your right it is crazy just hope its not deadly tonight !! Take care .... paul

No, I've held off. I'm thinking Thursday or Friday for planting. Crazy weather.

Hey there I sure hope you haven't planted your stuff yet?Wait till this really big storm front gets through here.It may be storming where you at now i don't know. But tornadoes are possible in northeast arkansas where i live.I don't want my plants blowed around and beat down by the possible hard rain.Your video was awsome.Doing your own seedlings not only rewarding but cost effective.Lowes wants $1.77 for 4 tomatoes not high but i have 100 tomatoe plants allmost ready cost $1.00 for all of them

And I think the nutrients in the compost have helped them have to stay longer in their red cups than I've really wanted thanks to our goofy weather of the last few weeks.
-
I use a diluted plant food while they're seedlings. When I transplant, I move them into the red solo cups with a 1/3 mixture of compost, coconut coir, and moisture control potting soil. My plants really seem to like that.

Is it ever too early to use Compost Tea? Can they take it okay as seedlings?

1 ounce of cola (non diet), 1 ounce of beer, and 1/2 ounce of ammonia per 2 gallons of chlorine free water ;-)

Great Video. My hose doesn't make it to my compost pile but I have a 2 gal watering can. How much drunken compost mixture should I add to my 2 gal watering can? Cheers Louise

Ok thanks good info!

No I haven't. I've actually been thinking about going down and finding a home tester and doing a video of that though. Thanks.

It would certainly help. I simply built TALL raised beds and put cardboard down to kill the grass under there. Over time the cardboard will break down, attract beneficial worms, etc. I pulled some grass sod pieces last year and piled them near my compost pile and would be very hesitant to mix it in with the compost until I knew the grass roots were dead. Just today I turned a bit of that and there was grass trying to grow. You don't want it growing in your pile or put back in the garden.

I let it brew for a day or so and then I use it up. The compost in the bagl gets reused and I add to it a bit. This year, I'm going to use my rain barrel to make it. I got one of those huge 4" air stones to put directly into the compost bag for full oxygenation.

Also I am now using compost tea making it in 35 gal barrels with manure compost and molasses. Thinking about adding some seaweed. I am on 3rd round at the house here. Do we only add that every so often? Like you we are tomato people too last year we planted 73 plants and took out over 1200 tomatoes easy finally stopped counting! Looking foward to the summer!

HI Kansas here, I have enjoyed your videos , I am a gardener too. Me and husband do 3 lots ,30 by 30 each at the community gardens. And now have raised beds in our back yard. I am adding 4 more this year ,but you and your Dad have inspired us to fill it up with raised beds and have no grass to mow. I am looking into a sod cutter just to cut the grass right up. Do you think that would work, and then I could use the sod for composting? I too have learned a lot from my dad. Thanks!
