A spot pretty early on in the game you can easily grab 1K EXP per battle. Decent spot to farm Materials as well. Another Spot is shown right after you can net 3K per Battle.

Try to beat the 3 wolves from mountain on the western from that town they drop 3000 exp

I feel your pain over those damn Silvaras... I ran into them at lv21 thinking they were normal mobs and lost my game. I also had got so engrossed that I hadn't saved since I came across the area save point in the Broken Airship... sad times...
