I water my orchid by soaking it in the sink with a small amount of water soluble orchid plant food (19 31 17) for 15 minutes my oldest orchid has been in bloom on different spikes 2 months shy of two years.

I have been told to just water them once a week with ice cubes is that good idea?

Thank You Brad, very helpful information, I've been soaking mine in water for about an hour once a week? I submerge in water, is that a good idea or just pour the water thru the pot and let drain out? Thanks :)

I live in the Caribbean so it always HOT i was told that phals shouldn't be exposed to direct sunlight so i keep them in the house and i leave a light on at night do you think that's enough for them?

Brad, You say you water your orchids under the tap. A number of the comments ask about that, as most advice is not to use tap water (chlorine, fluoride, etc). If I can stop using distilled water, it will be easier.
