If you do not pulverize eggshells in a coffee grinder, making a powder out of them, you may as well not use them at all. The ability of the eggshells to breakdown and be absorbed into the soil and by the plants depends on how much surface area is exposed. Half shells can take up to 10 years to break down into useable form. Roughly ground shells years. unless ground into powder, it is useless for that year or years to come.
