How to Transplant Your Seedlings
Tips, Tricks
In this video, I demonstrate how to transplant your tomato seedlings from the Egg-Carton Greenhouse to a larger container. I also give a little overview of the greenhouse I have constructed for my plants. If you would like to start your own Egg-Carton Greenhouse, you can find my instructional video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxXIYHuHQrE Thanks for watching!

Never grab them by the stem. This is the feeding system which has tiny tubes that can easily be damaged at seedling stage. Its OK to pick up my the leaves.

I use a cheap set of metal kitchen tongs to transplant small seedlings with. Push the ends of the tongs onto the soil on both sides of the seedling. Then gently squeeze the rootball and lift the seedlings out. This allows one to handle the seedling without any stem contact. You can just shove the captured seedling into the new filled pot and unsqueeze the tongs and gently lift tongs out of the soil. Your seedling is transplanted with very little root damage or loss of soil around the roots. Do any fill in if needed.

Great video's bro. From the How to make your own greenhouse egg carton video to how to seed, to this one. Helped me out, and now I'm ready to start my own :) .... I do have a question to ask. Can tomato plants live healthy, as well as produce healthy fruit while in a pot. If so, what the recommended pot size ?

Great video and tips thank you!!! I just started my tomato and peppers (tried the paper towel method for germination then put into egg cartons once it had roots, hoping it wont be too much handling and transplanting!) I have a question if you have time would really appreciate!!
Tips on grow lights. I am a beginner and am trying to be budget friendly.. are they absolutely needed, if so what would you recommend?
Thank you!! -
This is awesome. I'm making an herb garden for my kitchen; this has given me so much information.
Do I ever need to switch out the soil? Won't the plants eventually take all the nutrients from the soil in the pot? -
so pretty much when they pop out of the soil it's time to transplant?
-
how can I protect the seedlings

I usually have mine in cells and water from bottom as opposed to misting from the top. I also wait till they get at least one set of true leaves preferably two sets before I uppot. They will also have a better root system going at that point. Of course I do have shop light setup lowered to just above the seedlings once they have germinated otherwise they will really get leggy reaching for the light.

did you water the seeds throughout the 7-10 day period?
-
Amazing clarity in voice and continuity of thought - the info is great too of course but the first things mentioned stand out - hmmm? I envy you!

Use gloves! If having a little scratch on your hand you can get sepsis real easy
-
I like the fact that you made recycled pots. It's cheap and eco friendly.
