My name is John Phillips. We have horses, miniature horses. We have miniature llamas and alpacas, chickens, ducks. We have bearded dragons. Our website is www.squealsonwheels.us. Before bringing your new little piggy home, it is important to piggy-proof your home just like you might for a toddler. These little ones can get into mischief because they are so intelligent and so curious. So you want to hide the electrical cords, pick up your toxic liquids and cleaners. They are smart enough to figure out how to open up a refrigerator, so sometimes you have to put a lock actually on the refrigerator if they are big enough to get to the base of it. So you have to look at the home from a pig's level and really make it a very safe place. We recommend that you start your little pig in a small, confined area, so he or she can get used to the big change in their life which is moving to your home. For our pigs, we provide miniature pig pellets that are specifically made for mini pigs, not farm or large pigs. These pig pellets are well-balanced nutrition for these little guys and girls. We also give them fresh vegetables and a little bit of fruit, but mostly fresh vegetables. They like the leafy green ones. We also give them some hay for additional fiber in their diet and always fresh water. They need to have constant access to fresh water. Little piggies do not like to be picked up. They will tolerate it but you will usually get a big squeal out of them. They like to have their four feet on the ground or in your lap.
