The art of bonsai is a beautiful thing and starting these trees from seeds can be challenging. This is a tutorial on how to start bonsai trees from seeds. There is a bit of an interesting process when it comes to starting the seeds and getting them to sprout into seedlings. This is because many types of trees need a dormant winter period. I planted dawn redwood seeds, a couple sprouted but not all. should I move them to light or keep them in mostly darkness still like when germinating ? help would be greatly appreciated

Do i have to do the scarification with a chinese elm seed? If so, for go long? Thanks

I have an apple seed tree. It says "Wrap seeds in damp paper towel." Do I open the package?? I'm scared to...Just in case I'm not supposed to..

Honestly, I had not clue what to do with a kit I've been given, as the instructions are very vague and rushed even. So thank you for this. I have Red Maple, Silver Birch and Mountain Pine seeds.
The Red Maple seeds are currently in the scarification process. Following your direction am I still looking at 24-48 hours for the Red Maple seeds?

Theoretically if you can perfectly open the hard shells of these seeds and plant them... will that work? If so how long will they take to germinate?

Question, I just got my bonsai cherry blossom starter kit and I'm very excited to start. The method they have in the instructions is warm spell and then cold spell. (Warm for 30-60 days, then cool for 90-120 days). For warming would I use a greenhouse for this when I start on the "Warm spell"?

I planted 5 seeds of Pyracatha and 5 seeds of Acer Palmatum (jap maple)

The pyracantha came out at day 100... one only... and the maple i'm still waiting at day 118... is it unusual to go much beyond that? Should I have done much more than 5 seeds? Is it high failure rate?

I'm pretty sure one of my maple seeds is slowly coming out though thankfully.

Thanks for the video, I bought a growing kit with some very non specific instructions and this helped a lot! Just wondering though, do the seeds germinate in the fridge or do you have to remove them first?
