I'm new to planted tanks and have a couple of questions. I have a 120 gal that I planted a mother amazon sword in. most of the large outer leaves have melted back and its showing new growth but slowly. It is however putting off daughter plants like crazy. How can I help this plant? Does it need more nutrients? i did use osmacote. I currently have 2 T8 bulbs on 8 to 10 hours a day. I also have a 10 gal with driftwood and several kinds of plants started. They are hair grass, brazillian pennywort, java fern, crinium calistratum (?), amazon sword and anubias nana. Everything is showing growth except anubias which is developing holes in leaves. This tank has a T5. Any advice.

A couple weeks ago i picked up some plants for a dirted tank that im going to breed guppies in for my axolotl to have some fry to eat. But i got some water sprite that was just labeled "new species" and had no care info. What kind of light dose it need and how should it be planted. i would rather not kill it if at all possible because its one of my favorite plants.

If you put a rag in between the mag-floate and the glass it will not scratch it :-) (i had the same problem)

@Khrab50 i get algae on my sand often. what i do is mix around the sand so the algae covered particles (rocks in your situation) move to the bottom, where they don't get light and eventually die. i repeat the cycle every couple weeks so that the ones on top beginning to grow algae get moved to bottom and don't get a chance. If your tank is dirted, you can't do this without messing up your tank of course...kind of why i dislike dirt. plenty of good substrates to plant in, dirt isn't only option.

@Shrimpandinvertz They had melted without big changes, perhaps I over do it, or when the temps change fast, but it wasn't the case with this ludwigia...lack of light
