How to Re-grow Romaine Hearts | August's Edible Patio | Garden Tip | Cooking Tip In this video I show you how to re-grow store-bought romaine hearts. This is great way to get two for the price of one. Just stick the base of the romaine heart in a glass of water rather than throwing it into the compost pile. Stick it in a window and watch it start growing again in just a few days. It doesn't even have to be a particularly sunny window either. I grew mine in a north facing window. This is great project for kids to do with their parents. Use only organic lettuce...not GMO!

You can do this once in nothing but water and still have good flavor, but if you try to do it again after that it will pretty much taste like water. You will have have to plant it in nutrient rich soil or a proper hydroponic system to get that flavor back.

With covered roots in your hydroponics setup, I predict improved results. Roots do not like light (usually underground). An aquarium airstone for oxygen and some very diluted plant food might help as well.

With green onions it easily get rotten, green onion must have little roots to get more, but on the soil is much easier, proven... i have lots now.... watching you tubers post. thanks to all.

Nice idea, 2 x having the lettuce, but really takes a week to grow as in the glass or even more, but it grows, and put on soil to fully grow.
