I enjoy your videos. Thank you. I live in Ulster county, NY (zone 6 I believe). Can I/should I prune my large rose of sharon now (mid Nov.) or wait until the spring? Thank you. Debby

i wish i could see the shrub when it's blooming !

Great job 'before' and 'after'. The R.O.S. now appears more majestic, imho with its verticality and labor of love.

Leah, I have transplanted many times with much success. They are a hardy tree.

I would like to make a privacy row of rose of Sharon trees... would you still prune them? Due to the fast growing ability, I have many new trees to plant... do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for the video. My 2 years old Rose Of Sharon grows fast and looks a little too big for my flower bed now that i want to transplant it to another spot. How can i transplant this tree safely?

That's a nice pruning saw that you are using! Would you kindly let me know the brand? Thank you!

I have three Rose Of Sharon growing in a row. Two bloomed awesomely this year. But one looks sick. A couple of green buds but for the most part it looks as if it is dying. Do I prune it this winter and give it another year? Or do I dig it up and give up on it?

Your videos are so helpful! And I love how you care so much for the robin and her eggs!

Hi I have a rose of Sharon and at the bottom there are two big branches that form other ones. One seems dead but I'm not sure if it is. How do I know? Also to the left of my rose of Sharon it seems to be growing a baby one but it's more flimsy and not staying up. Thanks

Thanks for an excellent and well produced tutorial. I appreciate your time and clear explanations.

Thank you for all the excellent details and zoom-in shots. This video was most helpful. I've just completed my pruning tasks in Manassas, VA, and will await the new blooms.

Thank you so much for your excellent videos on pruning spirea and Rose of Sharon. I have both to deal with in our new home. I also have two smoke bushes that are now at least 10 to 12 feet tall...and need pruning too. Mu instinct is to do exactly what you did with the rose of sharon, but sure would appreciate your input!

I'm just wondering if you can prune ROS in late summer/Fall? I don't care about it flowering next year. We moved into a new home, and the ROS is pretty leggy - I don't think they ever pruned it - and I just want to start over with it. Winter was impossible because we had 2 winters of feet of snow that refused to melt until spring. Would have involved walking thru feet of snow to get to the shrub. Will pruning it in Summer/Fall make it more susceptible to winter damage? I'm on Long Island - it's cold, but not canadian cold! Thanks!

How about a picture of how it looks with foliage?

We recently (last year) planted a row of rose of sharon (maybe 8) to become a hedge and I'm thrilled at how they are growing..... these were free branches (someone elses pruning I guess). But my question as they are blooming like crazy and love all the flowers..... can I cut them for a vase? and I read that they are edible..... would I just snip them off as they bud?

Thank you for your videos. They are all awesome and I'm learning so much. I do have a question about how often to prune my rose of sharon. I have several young plants (2-5 years old) and 2 that are at least 10-15 years old. I pruned them all heavily this past winter and they are doing wonderful now. Do I need to prune them again next year or should I wait two or three years? Thanks for your advise!!

Great instruction..thanks for making this video. One question. I have two Roses of Sharon growing beside my house that need pruning badly. Can they also be pruned in the late fall once the foliage is off, or should I wait until spring?
