Is it possible for me to trim about a 2 inch lower maple tree branch in the fall. Or should I wait till spring. It's about to snow here, im near toronto ontario Canada. Thanks very much.

is it necessary to put some sort of sealer over the end that you cut

Nice video! Should I follow the same procedure for trimming a smaller pot based tree? We have a few damas trees (Conocarpus lancifolius) outside our front door that have grown a lot and need to be trimmed down. Thanks.

Wow, thanks, man! That really was informative and easy to understand.

On the third cut at what angle do you cut it to try and keep New Growth from sprouting do you cut it straight or at an angle up or down

Very cool

Great Video...I never thought about the fact that trees could heal and grow over broken stumps and encapsulate the old branches like that. Makes you really appreciate trees haha

There are some sawzall blades made for pruning that I find work pretty well. But I learned something new from this vid so thx.

Great video, you have a unaffected, personal style. If I could change it I would like the cutting method to be shown earlier. I heard the words "3-cut method" so many times without seeing it that I was beginning to think I was watching an infomercial!

Another question for you John. Does it matter how you do the three cut method or what tools you use? I used a hatchet to cut a branch off at the 12" mark and pruning saw at the end like how you showed so it can heal properly. I am thinking of using a reciprocating saw next. Mainly because I have a lot of pruning to do and a chainsaw is overkill.

Do you have guidance for pruning mature trees that have not been pruned over the years and have grown horribly wrong? I have one such tree in my back yard and it has a major branch growing on one side that throws the balance of the entire tree off. I don't know if I should just cut half of that branch to make the tree look more balanced or the entire branch. Advice?
