Is it best to keep plants like lettuce and rocket (those are my plants that have just bolted) in the shade?
-
apparently you can juice the bolted plants!!
-
I think over watering and over use of fertilisers are the worst curios, my mustard and spinach have bolted
-
Also just read that for leaf vegetables the best fertilizer is nitrogen-rich fertilizer because it encourage vegetable growth.

hello, I'm a college student and finishing up mine General Horticulture course and just wanted to throw this information out there that my book says about bolting. it mention the cause of it is because of warm weather and also bolt as a response to the shortening of the nights. don't know if someone already mention this but just throwing out knowledge. (Proverbs 3:13-15)……Aslo the Bible gives out tips on gardening too. hahaha check out Proverbs 3:9:10, Romans 11:16, Deu.26:10… give first fruits to God by giving them out to others as in thanking God for them and be blessing to others. My neighbor does this, him and his wife just gives out free vegetables out of there harvest all throughout their harvest season and place a free vegetable stand on side of our main road and for others. Im telling you their harvest is so overwhelming of how many vegetables their garden put out and they are so good too!.. God Bless! Try it and let me know how amazingly God showed His favor in your garden when you did so. :) #GodisGood! #GodisLove! #JesusIsLord! #John10:30 #John3:15-18 #John14:6 #Jesus365! Love you all God bless!

With me happend my broccoli and kale is bolting I can eat the flowers?
-
I've found that keeping them well aerated, once in a while, top dressing with compost, and regular watering seems to be the best formula for preventing bolting. An adequate amount of fertilizer also helps too.

Hello, you can try Neem Oil, but I don't use it because it can also kill beneficial insects and worms. I planted Marigolds since they are supposed to repel them, but then they also attract spider mites which are bad! Thinking about putting a bird feeder near the garden so the can eat these nasty caterpillars...I will write more later, because I have to go to work, have a great day! Misilla

Yes totally! I've learned to let them cool all the way unsealed before you place them in the freezer...I was sooo sad when this happened last year! At least I got to make a batch of pumpkin cookies :)
-
broke the jars? This had happened to me with my sugar pumpkin puree when I didn't let them cool off enough :(

You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful :)

We had a real weird spring here. It got hot, then cold. My plants had no idea what to do and they bolted. Plus, I think their growth was stunted at the nursery. Anyway, I did not get my wonderful harvest of broccoli and cabbage this year like I did last year. I am trying again in the fall. You are going to have an awesome harvest of potatoes! Yummy!!! Looks great!!
