I am new to Alberta where the soil in our garden plot has lots of clay. I layered some top soil and mixed in some organic soil but I did not till it in like you showed in the video with the exception of the areas where I planted in shrubs and flowers. Should I take everything out and start from square one? How do you work around plants that are already there?

I wouldn't call clay horrible. It's rich in nutrients. The problem is it's not available to the plants. You need bacteria and worms to help the plants survive. Which will thrive when you amend the soil.
