Hey CaliKim, we get cold snowy winters here in the Midwest... what type of care should I do for my garlic. Right now the garlic is growing good about 6 in. from the soil since Oct 3, 16. Do I need to cover it up before we get snow?

hello my friend Good info I heard and read that it is very hard to grow garlic, I Must have garlic esp for the medicine use. I can not find any garlic at our stores that are big no idea where to get large clove again all I can do is growing containers. Man record heat and non ending wild winds over 6 months, yet Perpetual spinach chard and 2 others chard's made it with sand,m wind indestructible and doing 4th harvest and replacing in containers cool weather crops saw your new vids helped me understand some things like the new cool weather crop series great job I learned a lot from you more so than any other so thank you.
will do a vid before I do last harvest I do not use a cell so can not send pic has tag but a day or two will show the crops doing a vid on an herb hope you see it amazing. -
do you have to water it regularly until winter arrives???

Good video. The Garlic Capitol or so they claim, would be Gilroy, California, about 30 miles south from San Jose, California, and about 40 miles north of Monterey, California. The Garlic festival is a yearly event that you may want to attend.

How long does it take to mature. I planted garlic in the fall and I it's still in the ground 6months later, with bulbs the size of green onions:(

Hi Kim, I am your biggest fan from Belgium!! Great videos, just love gardening myself as well!!! On top of that: you're looking gorgeous!! :) Thanks a lot for sharing with us!

So they don't need to sprout before you plant them? I didn't know that. I'm inspired to start a container of garlic now!

I have yet to get garlic, one of my favorite plants of all time, to grow well anywhere. Thanks for the support for all of us in the frozen North. :)

Hey Kim. You're talking about my town Gilroy (garlic capital of the world). More central cali than north. Yes! In the summer it does smell like garlic. When at the grocer make sure you are purchasing U.S. garlic. A LOT is shipped in from China. Take care. Sorry about your tree.

Thanks for the tip.

The Garlic Festival is fun to go to but I don't like to eat everything tasting like garlic. I'm pretty sure it's in Gilroy. I put my garlic in a couple of months ago and doing well although we do have frosts up here near the foothills of Sierra Nevada.

Presents from fresh farms are such treats! Good tip for simulating the cold. Now you got me wanting to grow some garlic...hehe
-
we are so going to do this ...we love garlic....we live pretty close to the Gilroy garlic festval but we never been there...lol...we will go this summer...ttyl..hugs

My chef friend would go to Gilroy every year for the festival. I am using garlic bulbs from Native Seed/Search this year (they are more like my climate) and I am looking forward to the results. Since I don't have refrigeration, I could put my bulbs in the ice chest for a while before planting.
