How To Plant Cucumbers From Seeds - Organic Vegetable Garden In this video, I will show you how I grow cucumbers from seed in cups. It is very easy and because of the short germination period is a fun project for kids as well. The cucumber I'm planting is Bush Cucumber. I planted my cucumber seeds on April 27th, 2016 As always, the day before planting my cucumber seeds, I soaked them in water for 24 hours by putting them on a plate with paper towel underneath and above them and covering them with room temperature water. I use bigger cups to plant my cucumber seeds because cucumbers don't like to be transplanted too many times. To start my seeds, I used Jiffy Organic Seed Starting Mix which, in my opinion is the best for starting seeds indoors. After I plant my cucumber seeds, I bottom water them by putting water in the tray and letting the soil absorb it (it takes about 20 minutes). I keep the cups inside until the cucumber seeds germinate, and then slowly start introducing the seedlings to the intense Arizona sun :) When time to water my cucumber seedlings, I again, bottom water them with 1 tea spoon of Liquid Organic Alaska Fish Fertilizer deluded in 1 gallon of water. And here in Arizona, once outside, I have to water my seedlings every night because the day temperatures are in the high 80s and low 90s. I planted my cucumber plants into containers a month later, on May 30th.
