How to plant broccoli & other brassicas
Tips, Tricks
Was blown away by how well the broccoli & cauliflower did last year after trying this simple technique.. I came across this method of planting out brassicas last year & was very pleased with the results.. The plants that were planted in loose soil only did fair to average so decided to plant them all into firm soil this season.. Hey mate,
we have been chasing tree collard cuttings for ages do you know any where that i can buy some? would be amazing if you could point me in the right direction!!! thanks dan -
Hi rob Bob thank for a great video , here in the uk I grow my vegetables in deep beds 30in high. When planting brassicas i apply extra homemade compost and chicken manure pellets to the soil then I climb into the bed and stamp down the soil till it's quite hard. Planting is done with a trowel. The results are big plants with solid heads. I'm also experimenting with a Brussel sprout in a 10" pot ,same method.

I have an 8 foot round ish child's swimming pool, thinking about drilling a few drain holes in it, and fill with the planting soil, we were thinking corn in the center, pumpkins and watermelons in diagonal mounds 4 altogether around the center, they can be allowed to spill out over is the plan there, the broccoli and lettuce/ radish will go in rows for us, thanks for the vid, knowing to pack the soil is key, I would have had it tilled up loose otherwise.

Yippee! Heading out to put my two little guys in that spot in the yard. I was just trying to find out how far apart to plop them, but now I know to stomp first :)

Hi! I have planted broc and cauli (and brussels sprouts and leeks) in a raised garden bed - first week of june, planted seedlings. They are not looking how they should look... very leggy, no buds to show really. Would you suggest carefully taking out each plant and re-planting deeper in some firm, more fertilized soil? or leave as is? there's about 3-5cm of exposed stem before the leaves begin for a few of them. i wish i could post pics!! help! for some reason have had great results with leafy greens, broad beans, tomatoes and herbs but these winter veggies have me STUMPED! i'm a novice in most respects! in melb, victoria, if that helps?

only in garden, and estate farm and secret garden, be with my rabbit and later some sheep, working with plants, can really make me happy, and in peace, also because fresh air, better eden garden established....! :) that is always I should be...:) ! I will have bigger estate and garden farm later , focus on doing my own research of herbs, and teaching others too....there is a lot knowledge to teach , translation, and share with....it is very important....all our jobs is always be farming, herding, rather than need also some hunting , gathering new ones...:)

Thank you for your very informative videos. I was wondering why my broccoli hardly had any heads to eat. Now I know that it was due to planting in loose soil. I'll be sure to firm up the soil for the autumn planting.
